Cohen Vaughan Welcomes Kelly A. McGee, National Construction Practice Chair

Firm News

We’re excited to welcome our newest partner and member of our leadership team, Kelly A. McGee.

A trial lawyer, trusted counselor, and leading expert on New York Labor Law, Kelly will serve as chair of our national Construction practice, effective immediately.

Get to Know Kelly A. McGee

Kelly has tried dozens of cases and brings to Cohen Vaughan more than two decades of experience defending construction site accident and construction defect cases, including New York Labor Law and Scaffold Law claims, catastrophic injury and wrongful death, property damage, and products liability matters. Her clients have included building and land owners, general contractors, construction and site safety managers, trade subcontractors, construction equipment manufacturers, and their insurers.

In recognition of her courtroom-tested expertise on New York Labor Law §§ 200, 240(1), and 241(6), the New York State Bar Association twice selected Kelly to serve as Editor-In-Chief of its authoritative Construction Site Personal Injury Litigation treatise. Her oversight of the most recent third and fourth editions involved reviewing all aspects of New York Labor Law claims, including examination of Appellate Court decisions that carve out new exceptions and build upon traditional interpretations of the law. The book is the preeminent guide for Labor Law practitioners as it sheds light on the ever-changing landscape of New York construction cases.

In addition to her editorship of Construction Site Personal Injury Litigation, Kelly is an active member and former committee chair of the New York Chapter of Professional Women in Construction.

Cohen Vaughan’s Construction Practice Expands

Kelly will lead Cohen Vaughan’s construction practice across the firm’s footprint and beyond. That growing practice spans the full spectrum of construction litigation and counsel, including catastrophic accident and construction defect litigation and trials, safety risk management, contract drafting and negotiation, contract disputes, liens, insurance and indemnity counseling, and appellate strategy. With Kelly’s arrival, the firm adds to our depth of expertise in cases involving falls from elevated work platforms including scaffolds, ladders, man lifts and stairways and cases involving falling objects including steel beams, construction materials and equipment, as well as product liability claims against construction equipment manufacturers. As chair, Kelly will work closely across Cohen Vaughan’s offices to ensure effective, responsive, and consistent service for our construction business and insurance clients.
